Hi. I’m Drew,
THE CREATOR OF
WASTELANDIA.
I’ve got a thing called ‘game brain’. It’s a condition in which one thinks about game design way too much. Often at strange times and odd hours. Designing intriguing and compelling games is the only known cure.
Fun Facts
I live in Seattle, WA. I teach soccer to kids. My dream job is to be a game designer for the TV show, Survivor.

DREW’S DESIGN SENSIBILITIES
balance
I’m not talking about fairness. Humans feel good when we straddle the line between chaos and order. Engaging games should let you ride that line.
No fuss
Get the game out of the box and start playing as easily as possible. Then get to the good stuff as much as possible. Don’t waste people’s time.
boost the player
Novelty and humor are fleeting. Want a player to crave your game? Make them feel clever and confident.
creative expression
Making a game that is unique is great. Making a game that allows the player to express their uniqueness is gold.
irreverence
We’re playing a game. Don’t take yourself too seriously.
